Decorated transparent boxes filled with delicious sugared almonds and chocolates are the gift of the moment says Wildberry Designs' designer, Mariel Eade. Small delicate jewelled picture frames with the couples photograph are a heartfelt gesture, and fragrant votive candles in glass candle holders tied with a personalised gift tag from the bride and groom are also very popular.
Many couples and bridal parties are also indulging their creative sides by taking the DIY approach to bomboniere. When it comes to DIY wedding stationery and bomboniere, "Wildberry Designs has a wide range of creative materials such as roses, ribbons, beads, embellishments, bomboniere boxes (including clear, paper and tin versions), organza bags, and a multitude of exquisite handmade papers are available for couples to design and decorate their own bomboniere," says Eade.
Expert tips
Just as invitations create anticipation for your wedding by hinting at the theme of your special day, so too should your bomboniere should reflect the look and feel of your reception. Bomboniere is an integral part of creating the right mood so choose colours and materials that will not only complement your theme, but also add to the atmosphere and fit's in with the colour scheme.
If you are planning to do your bomboniere yourself it is a good idea to allow yourself at least three weeks to source all your materials and to design your bombonierie.
