Dawn Of A New Day
Amy and Brad, both 28, married in a morning service in the chapel at St John's College at the University of Sydney. "Because we were having a morning ceremony I wanted a dress that was soft and flowing and wouldn't look out of place during the day," says Amy. The bride wore the 'Garden' gown by Sydney designer Johanna Johnson. "The silk georgette gown over a silk satin slip gave the dress a really romantic look and was absolutely perfect. I loved the experience of having the dress made for me and it was such a pleasure to wear." Amy kept her jewellery to a minimum: a antique brooch that her mum bought for her and earrings that belonged to a friend's grandmother.
Bridesmaids
Amy's bridesmaids Lucy and Chris wore white silk georgette dresses by Lisa Ho. "We decided that they should wear white as I wanted them to look fresh and simple. The Lisa Ho dress was exactly what I had in mind and complemented my dress perfectly so the decision was very easy," says Amy. As a gift to her bridesmaids, Amy had necklaces custom-designed and hand-crafted by jewellery designer Holly Jones. "They were created to complement both the Grecian style of the dresses and the metalic pink colour of the shoes resulting in an elegant yet modern, romantic feel. They looked fantastic and were a great memento for Lucy and Chris to keep."
Floral Touches
The bride carried a bouquet of pale pink peonies and white orchids by floral designer Lisa Bloom of Sweet Violets Lindfield. "Peonies are such a beautiful November flower," says Amy. "We had a loose pink floral theme which tied in the invitations with the bouquets and table decorations." Amy enlisted her sister, a graphic designer, to create the invitations, the order of service, menus and placecards all with the same floral motif. Also in keeping with the theme, the couple's towering cake was made by a neighbour and decorated by Lisa Bloom with fresh pale pink peonies and tied with a ribbon.
