When work colleagues Bonnie, 27, and Paul, 29, finally made a romantic connection after 18 months of knowing each other, their family and friends were not surprised. One Hunter Valley proposal and a glamorous inner city wedding later, they were husband and wife.
THE WEDDING GOWN The bride wore a strapless couture gown from Pallas Bride, featuring layers of silk and tulle, ruffles along the bodice and a mermaid-style skirt. 'It was just so stunning and a bit different to everything I'd seen,' says Bonnie.
THE BRIDESMAID DRESSES Bonnie wanted two distinct gowns. 'Choosing non-matching gowns is harder than it looks! However, we found two gowns by Badgley Mischka. One was a chiffon cappuccino gown with jewel detail on each strap and ruching around the bust. The second was also chiffon, which helped tie them together, and was latte with a deeper neckline and silk panel behind the bust,' says Bonnie.
THE PHOTOGRAPHY 'We went with Sugar Love Weddings as the style of their photography was elegant and sophisticated, capturing beautiful moments without intruding on them or being cheesy,' explains Bonnie. 'Their professional reputation is also well-known, which gave me peace of mind.'
THE 'CAKE' Bonnie organised an edible surprise from McIntosh & Bowman for her new husband. 'He loves cheese, so I arranged a five-tier "cake" of delicious imported cheese decorated with ivy,' Bonnie explains. 'The bottom layer alone was a yummy hard cheese that weighed over 7kg!'
THE FLOWERS In keeping with her vintage glamour theme, Bonnie carried long-stemmed ivory roses. 'I wanted a simple bouquet that complemented the theme but didn't detract from the gown details,' says Bonnie.
THE RECEPTION 'We envisaged a candle-lit reception. The lights of the Queen Victoria Building were dimmed, which looked amazing with the high ceilings and Florence Broadhurst wallpaper of The Tea Room,' explains Bonnie. 'Chandelier candelabras were surrounded by tea light candles and amber vases filled with ivory and blush roses. A gorgeous part of the tables was the crystal wine and champagne glasses - the light flickered off them and they sparkled!'
