Attention to detail, styles to suit all budgets and a world-class premises add up to a premier bridal house Baccini and Hill.
Detailed styling and simple, well-fitting garments are what make the designs from Melbourne's Baccini and Hill stand out. Founded in mid-2005, the label brought together two well-respected bridal houses, Angelina Baccini and Jane Hill. Today it's a collaboration between sisters Angelina and Giannina Baccini (Jane Hill has moved on) and the duo continue to produce a high fashion couture range and are adding new lines to the mix.
'White' by Baccini and Hill is their ready-to-wear, made-to-order line and it's great for anyone who can't wait for their dream dress. An even more affordable range, 'Princess Sweet', for girls and debs who don't want to spend more then $1000, is also in the works. As if these projects weren't keeping the sisters busy enough, they are also working on a bridesmaid range (also perfect for the races!), plus a selection of bridal shoes.
Angelina got her start in bridal couture working with designer Marianna Hardwick - the Melbourne designer snapped her up when Angelina finished her design course. Angelina has thrived on weddings ever since, saying "it should be the best time of your life. You only do it once." She designs constantly and is seldom seen without her sketch pad. When describing her winning style, she says two words: "Architectural challenge. Our seamstresses love the challenge that comes with intricate construction and detail." There isn't a bride for whom Angelina couldn't create the perfect dress.
Angelina's starts every design by listening to her customers so she can really help guide them. A combination of overseas travel and an in-depth knowledge of fashion trends puts her in the perfect position to help brides come up with their wedding look and ensure that every bride she works with has her ultimate gown experience.
Just ask Chelsea Tyler. She has worked in marketing at Baccini and Hill for four years and, with a November wedding in the works, she has also become a client. "The thing I love most is the passion everyone here has for their work and the amount of time and care that goes into every gown," she says. Chelsea is very excited about her couture gown which is still in the early stages of construction. "You have one fitter all the way through," she says. "It's very personal and I'm loving the design process." Chelsea's vision was very Baccini and Hill: a fresh take on Hollywood glamour that reflects her personal style. "Basically, Angelina works really closely with me to help me achieve the overall look," she says.
The level of attention given to every bride is remarkably high and with 57 gowns going out just last month, it's definitely a draw card. On top of this, Angelina aims to create two to three new gowns every month so prospective brides have constantly updated styles to inspire them. Add to the mix the bridal parades Angelina is planning to host every winter and you have endless inspiration for brides-to-be.
